A TOUR OF MADISON SUBURBS

Love downtown Madison? Us, too. Lake views at the Memorial Union, games at the Kohl Center, and fresh cheese at the Capitol Square Farmers’ Market—there are so many fun things to do, we lost count. But, you don’t have to live in the bustle of downtown Madison to enjoy the area. In fact, all you have to do is find a great house in a picturesque Madison suburb.

Middleton

West of downtown Madison across Lake Mendota is Middleton, a suburb with tons of perks. Middleton’s population is just under 20,000 people and it has been ranked on “best places to live” lists multiple times. The city is popular due to its outstanding schools, a strong job market and successful local companies, and opportunities for recreation.

Waunakee

Twenty minutes north of Madison is Waunakee, a village of over 14,000. There’s lots to do in Waunakee, from antiquing to hiking, but outdoors lovers will go wild for Governor Nelson State Park. Travel Wisconsin calls the park a hidden gem, saying “The highlight of Dane County’s Governor Nelson State Park is a dog beach with a pier and ramp to help your pup get in and out of the water …  there’s also a fantastic view of the Wisconsin State Capitol and downtown Madison right across lovely Lake Mendota.”
